Axe Cliff Ladies had another challenging day in their County Prize Round last Wednesday, playing against a bitterly cold wind but at least they did not have any serious rain to contend with.

Amazingly the first three all had had the same score of 30 points and were difficult to separate.

LYME Regis first team moved into the top five of the Devon and Exeter League Premier division with a sold 3-2 victory over Okehampton Argyle 2nds yesterday (Saturday).

Conditions underfoot were not ideal for fast-flowing football, but the visitors had no antidote to the Seasiders inter-passing play, especially in the first half when they failed to convert numerous chances.

YOU always know when going to play a University team that you are going to be up against a young, athletic team who want to play a more possession based game. And that's exactly what Lyme Regis Reserves faced against University of Exeter 5th X1 yesterday (Saturday).

So manager Matt Preece made a decision to call on the club's own youth, bringing in players like Zak Harrison and Matt Bradley into the starting line-up. He also made a change of goalkeeper. Rob Harp had been fantastic at times this season, but it was felt that Will Meech, now fit to play in goal again after a hand injury in pre-season, deserved a chance between the sticks.

Axminster Town's away fixture against South West Peninsular Premier East strugglers Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police was postponed due the pitch being unplayable but the Tigers keep their tenth place in the division.

Axminster Reserves picked up three useful points with a 1-0 win over neighbours Colyton which lifts them into ninth place in the Devon and Exeter Premier division.

The club already have the most extensive youth section in local football with ten teams from Under Six to Under 15, several of which play in local leagues, all with qualified coaches.
