Junior members of Seaton Tennis Club have made a bid to play on the hallowed turf of the All England Club by taking part in the Road to Wimbledon competition.

The tournament is the biggest of its kind in British tennis, giving under-14 boys and girls across the country a chance to compete in local events, with county champions earning the right to play on the famous grass courts of SW19.

Competing in Division One of the Exeter Tennis League for the first time, Seaton Men's A pulled off a historic first ever win in the top flight of East Devon Tennis.

Undaunted after a recent crushing 8 - 0 defeat at the the hands of David Lloyd Exeter, the team bounced back with a hard fought 6 - 3 win against strong opposition from Sampford Peverell.

Whistlestop tennis at Seaton

Seaton Tennis Club held a mixed doubles Whistlestop Tournament as a friendly warm up for impending league matches.

Winners played with losers and losers played with winners - timed ten minute tie breaks starting and finishing with a blast of the whistle, with a different partner every time.

Seaton Tennis Club opens its courts again on Monday, March 29th in line with the government's roadmap out of lockdown.

Club Chairman Simon Prior said: "We're expecting a huge surge of interest with the return of existing members, alongside potential new members and visitors who will come down for a game simply because they now can!"

Seaton Tennis Club resumed socially distant tennis as the lockdown lifted this week. Three of the club's courts were resurfaced during the enforced absence including a brand new astro turf court, already christened by some members, "The Paddling Pool". The spectacular blue and green combination brings the club right up to date with 21st century tennis court design.

Ladies doubles finalists at the Seaton Tennis Club tournament, Scroll through gallery for more photos.

Seaton Tennis Club had a new winner in its annual tournament this year as Iain Horlock held off a fierce comeback from Kevin Davis to win a pulsating Men's Singles Final on Sunday, September 27th.

Despite joining the club just six months earlier after a 10-year break from tennis, Iain had stormed through the early rounds, combining phenomenal reach with an ice-cool temperament.

Uplyme tennis court where you can now book on line.

A NEW online booking system has been launched for Uplyme tennis court, with players no longer able to book the facilities at the village store and garage.

The trustees of the King George V playing field, which run the tennis court, have offered the facilities for free since they were allowed to reopen last month, but charges are now being reintroduced with the new booking system.
