New clergy installed by Bishop

It was a very hot evening on Tuesday of last week but a real pleasure for the congregation at St Mary's Parish Church in Axminster to share a wonderful service where Rt Rev'd Jackie Searle, Bishop of Crediton, led worship and the Licensing to the eight churches of the Axe Valley Mission Community of their new Team Vicar, the Rev'd Nicky Davies, and two Associate Priests, the Rev'd Cate Edmonds and the the Rev'd Shuna George.

They will each serve across the churches in their roles within the Ministry Team.

The 75th anniversary of Victory over Japan was marked in Axminster on Saturday with a special service on the Minster Green attended by between 40 and 50 people.

The service was conducted by the Father Geoffery Walsh, chaplain to the Axminster branch of the Royal British Legion.

An Axminster motorist who threw a parking charge notice he had received on to the ground whilst visiting Truro in Cornwall, has been fined for littering.

Bodmin Magistrates' Court heard that Ian Pears, of Linseed Drive, parked in a restricted area of Truro, Cornwall, and was given the penalty notice by a civil enforcement officer last October.

Devon & Cornwall Police is calling on residents and visitors to respect our region after a weekend which saw record 999 calls, increased levels of anti-social behaviour and public order incidents.

Over Saturday and Sunday, August 8 and 9, the force saw 2,301 999 calls – compared to 1,819 in the same period for 2019. This is an increase of 26.5 per cent.

Waffles are coming to Trinity House!

The Community Waffle House will move from its West Street premises to Trinity House in November

The popular Community Waffle House will be moving into Axminster's landmark town centre building, Trinity House, later this year.

The news was announced last night (Tuesday) in a live video on Facebook, where Waffle House team members chatted with Ian Styles, managing director of Axminster Property, which owns and is currently refurbishing Trinity House, and local celebrity auctioneer Graham Barton.
