Axminster district and county councillor is supporting the fundraising efforts of a children's charity at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

The Starfish Appeal aims to raise £450,000 to create a dedicated warm, bright and engaging space for the children, young people and families who use our children's services and outpatient waiting areas.

A statement on their website says: "We want to provide activities, materials and equipment in the new area to help the children that visit express themselves and have fun.

"It is important to provide preparation and distraction techniques as well as multi-sensory experiences to alleviate any anxieties and misconceptions that the children may have while they are waiting.

"These techniques are also helpful in relieving boredom and benefit recovery, recuperation and rehabilitation.

"With your help we can make a real difference to the thousands of children who visit the RD&E every year by enhancing the care our children receive."

Cllr Hall, who serves a governor on the RD&E, set himself a target of raising £100 by having his head shaved at County Hall, but his fundraising page has already exceeded £400 and is still open.

Cllr Hall also recently took part in a fundraising event in aid of ARC, helping to raise £14,000 on a night climb up Mount Snowden in Wales.

Mr Hall is vice-chairman of the Axminster-based mental health and counselling charity.
