Axminster Street Market takes place every Thursday in and around Trinity Square and The Minster Green.

The town was royal manor until 1204 when king john made William Lord Briwer the first lord of the manor of Axminster and gave the town the right to hold weekly markets.

This was followed up by a royal charter in 1210 conferring the right to hold week-long markets and establishing Axminster as a busy market town.
