LYME Regis Reserves, following their 7-1 victory over Axmouth United in Division Three of the Devon and Exeter League, faced a tougher task away to Devon Yeoman on Saturday.

They came up against a strong side who had won there first two games at an intimidating location, especially for young debutants -Matt Bradley, Zak Harrison and Tom Kilcoyne – where a lot of team will struggle to get points.

REFORMED Charmouth made a brilliant start to the new season in the Perry Street League Division Two with a 7-1 win over Netherbury, a dominating performance from start to finish.

The first half saw Charmouth pressing from the off and this paid off in the eighth minute with Brin Seward chasing down a back-pass to flick over the keeper and calmly tuck away to make it 1-0.

LAST season Lyme Regis 1st finished top of the Devon and Exeter League Division Premier East division – their best achievement in the club's long history – but it was somewhat dissipated by the fact the division ended up with just five teams completing the season because of COVID-19. Nevertheless, Lyme will go down in the record books as Premier East champions.

This season the Premier East and West divisions have been amalgamated which means the competition will be even stronger. Lyme lost their first match of the new season to Lapford, who beat them in last season's Premier play-off, and currently lead the division with seven points from three games.

The Tigers are lying in third place in the table, behind leaders Brixham and Torpoint Athletic, having won four of their six opening fixtures.

Seaton Tennis Club held its annual club tournament finals day under bright blue skies with - in true Wimbledon style - strawberries and cream on hand for the enthusiastic crowd of some 50 supporters.

Proceedings began at 12noon with the Ladies' Singles between 2020 winner Jo Little and rapidly improving youngster, Amelia Smith.
