Uplyme and Lyme Regis Cricket Club celebrated their promotion to a higher division next season by staging a fancy dress mixed 20-over match
UPLYME & Lyme Regis Cricket Club celebrated the end of season and promotion to the Devon League Division C with a fancy dress T-20 match last Sunday. The match saw Uplyme & Lyme Regis regulars play alongside some of their less experienced supporters, followed by fun games and a barbecue. Guests of honour for the day was the Mayor of Lyme Regis, Cllr Brian Larcombe MBE, accompanied by mayoress Wendy Larcombe and several town councillors, who were treated to a cream tea alongside sponsors. The town council had contributed funds towards the club's new electronic scoreboard. The club's presentation night was held in the evening with Andy Jones getting the Clubman Award, a well deserved recognition for the many hours of work he has spent on the ground this year, and Mark Batey receiving the Players' Player Award from fellow teammates for his efforts both with bat and on the field. Club secretary Derek Wellman said: "The club would like to thank all sponsors and all those who follow and support club. It is very much appreciated. We look forward to more success in Division C."
