It's the final day of celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in Axminster.

If you haven't already, take a look back at our photo coverage of the weekend's events on the Axminster Nub News website.

Celebrations come to a close today with a civic service at The Minster Church.

A team of bell ringers from across Devon have been invited to join our Axminster ringers to herald the civic service, which will commence at 2.30pm at the Minster.

The ringers will utilise all ten bells, which is a very precise undertaking. If all goes well, they should perform a Quarter Peal of 'Cambridge Surprise Royal' prior to the service.

This is a highly technical piece of ringing, attempting to ring unique rounds of the bell order such that no two rounds of the bells will be repeated until finishing in order at the end. It should take around 50 minutes to complete. The band are touring East Devon and ringing bells for the jubilee.

The civic service will be attended by Brian Wills-Pope MBE, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Devon; Cllr Ian Hall, chair of Devon County Council; Cllr Jill Farrow Axminster Town Mayor; The Revered Professor Paul Avis; chaplain to Her Majesty The Queen 2008-2017.

Other local dignitaries have been invited to attend, along with members of the town's charities.

Members of the Axe valley Community Choir are expected to be accompanying the hymns during the service.

The church will be adorned with red, white, and blue flowers, arranged by Angela Gill and friends.

Banners and flags have been encouraged from the Axminster RBL men's and women's sections, Girl Guides, Scouts etc.

Following the civic service, the Friends of the Minster will welcome guests to a cream tea at Axminster Guildhall from 3.15pm, thanks to the help of Gaye Baulch, Jane Broom, and friends.

Clive Smith's Arcadia Jazz Band will entertain to finish off a memorable weekend in Axminster!

The Nub News team will be attending as many Platinum Jubilee events as possible over the four-day weekend, but unfortunately we cannot get to everything. Please send your jubilee photos to [email protected] for inclusion in our jubilee coverage!
