An exciting weekend awaits on June 18 and 19 as Axe Valley Show makes its return to Axminster.

After two years disrupted by the COVID pandemic, the weekend-long event will return to Axminster Showground, off Trafalgar Way.

The Western Counties Heavy Horse Society are bringing their magnificent Shire horses and Nick Gregory will demonstrate his highly-trained Misselchalke Gundogs.

Daredevils will enjoy the exciting BMX Show and the bandstand will be pumping out the tunes, A dog show will also be held on both days.

Axminster Gymnastics Club promise an exciting display on Saturday and, on Sunday, the Tano Taiko Drummers will entertain the crowds.

Floral displays and demonstrations, a photography competition and exhibition, crafts, antiques, toys and hobbies, as well as scrumptious food offerings, await you in the marquees.

Traders around the grounds will be selling everything from soaps to sideboards.

The Axe Vale Show is a charitable fundraising event for the charity Axe Vale Festival Limited and organisers would like to thank this year's show sponsors – Axminster Tools, WBW Solicitors and Chartered Financial Planners, and Debonair Dogz – Professional Dog Grooming.

Simon Hodges, chairman of the charity, said: "This year, more than most, we have had to be very careful with expenditure as costs have escalated on many fronts due to the current economic situation, whilst at the same time keeping the ticket prices the same as in 2019.

"Without the generosity of our local sponsors, things would be extremely tight and their sponsorship helps to keep the show going and will hopefully facilitate the ability to plough back money into the local community."

Alan Styles, managing director of gold sponsor Axminster Tools, said: "We're committed to helping the local and wider community, which is why we're delighted to support The Axe Vale Show."
