Although LymeRegis Reserves put in a disappointing display at Central on Saturday, losing 5-1, the scoreline flattered the home team to a certain extent but there was no doubt they were beaten by superior opposition.

Lyme, who travelled with a bare 11 players,  started on the front foot, creating some good chances and keeping the Exeter team penned in their half. But the Seasiders failed to cash in on these and Central started to gain ground in the Lyme half, winning a free kick 30 yards out, which crashed off the bar and hit the back of keeper Rob Harp before going in the net, to make it 1-0.

UPLYME hosted Seaton 2nds on Saturday, hoping to do the league double over their local neighbours.

FOOTBALL retuned to Barrs Lane as the rejuvenated Charmouth ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against Chard United.

The Robins started strongly and dominated from the off. Early pressure created, six corners and multiple scoring chances in the first 30 minutes. A goal had to come and a great assist from Sam Dibling saw David Bridges get his first goal for the club and to give Charmouth a 1-0 lead.

LYME Regis Reserves moved into fourth position in the Devon and Exeter League Division Three with a 2-1 home victory over seaside neighbours Seaton Town.

Seaton's first team had to drop from the Premier to third division after they lost a number of players, but there was little between the two sides.

Axminster Ladies set off to Bradninch in a bid to start how they intended to carry on - and did so in style. In hot, muggy conditions following a month's break with cancelled games, after a slow start to the match the pace was soon set as the Tigers got back to their goal-scoring ways. A great start was made to the league campaign with the ladies scoring nine goals and maintaining a clean sheet.

With some exciting signings over the summer, a number of players were making their debut, including Poppy Cloke, Lily Wheeler, Flo Halkyard, Rachael Poole, Chelsea Petherbridge, Lorna Button, Ella Richardson and Miki Winkler, all getting in valuable minutes on the pitch, making a great impression and slotting into the team perfectly.

Tigers' local derby cup victory

Axminster Town are through to the second round of the Walter C. Parsons Funeral Directors Cup, beating neighbouring Ottery St Mary 2-1 at Tiger Way last Wednesday.

The victory was all the more sweet because Ottery had leap–frogged above the Tigers in the South West Peninsular Premier East division, having dropped two points in their 4-4 draw against Torpoint Athletic the previous Saturday.
