After a couple of lack-lustre results, Axminster Town rediscovered their shooting boots last evening (Tuesday) when they slammed six goals past South West Peninsular Premier East basement-boys Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police.

The 6-0 victory saw Axminster move up the division into seventh position, one point ahead of Cullompton Rangers.

Stoke have only won one game all season and the Tigers were expected to come home with three points - and they did it in style.

The inform Jamie Short who grabbed himself four goals, the other strikes coming from Josh Wadham, back from suspension, and Lewis Waldy.

The man-of-the-match was Leo McGuire, who stepped up from the Reserves in the right-back spot and impressed manager Dan Prettejohn.

The Tigers have seven games left to play and will have to put together a good run of results to the end of the season to bridge the gap with the club above them, Dartmouth AFC, who have an eight-point advantage but have played one more game than Axminster.

On Saturday, Axe travel to championship chasers Brixham who beat them 3-0 at home last week.
