Poor discipline on the pitch continues to plague Axminster Town. They currently have four players suspended and at the end of their midweek 3-0 defeat at home to Brixham another player was red carded.

Coupled with injuries, the loss of four key players is making life very difficult for manager Dan Prettejohn who has only been able to name a 12-man squad for the last two games.

On Saturday the Tigers travelled to Torridgeside in the South West Peninsular League Premier East, a side third from bottom in the table, a fixture where they could have expected three points.

But it was another game in which the Tigers dominated but failed to come away with a win. Their goal came in the 28th minute from man-of-the-match Jamie Short.

The point kept Axe in eighth place, one point behind the club above them, Cullompton Rangers, but with a game in hand.

Axminster's nest game on Tuesday evening is away to bottom club Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police, who have won just one game all season.

A crowd of nearly 100 saw Axminster Reserves take on old adversaries Lyme Regis 1st team at Tiger Way on Saturday. When the two sides met at the Davey Fort earlier in the season, the Seasiders were comfortable 4-0 winners.

But the return fixture was a much closer affair and although Lyme completed the double with a 2-0 win there was very little between the two sides.

Manager Jamie Barfoot got the ball in the net but was ruled offside after the Lyme keeper pulled off a brilliant save pushing the ball onto the bar.

Former Tiger Callum Garrett had to go to hospital after the game to have six stitches in his tongue after being hit in the face in a robust tackle.

The Tigers meet Upottery in the East Devon Senior Cup tomorrow (Wednesday) and travel to Sidmouth Town 2nds on Saturday.
