Tigers cup run continues

After a disappointing 0-0 draw with bottom club Elburton Villa, Axminster Town bounced back with a superb performance to book a place in the semi-final of the Walter C Parsons Cup at Tiger Way on Tuesday.

Dropping points again Elburton prevented the Tigers from moving back into the top six in the South West Peninsular Premier East Division, but the 2-1 cup victory over second placed Crediton United made up for the disappointment and demonstrated that Axe are able to compete with the top teams in the league and that a top-six finish is well within their capabilities.

Axminster's goals came from Joe Chamberlain and man-of-the-match Jamie Short.

The semi-final of this prestigious trophy will take place at the end of March but Axminster don't know who they will be meeting with other quarter-final games still to be played.

The Tigers' next fixtures on Saturday when they travel to Plymouth Marjon who are 14th in the league having won six of their 27 games.
