A young and inexperienced Lyme Rovers side worked hard but were ultimately well-beaten 4-0 by a strong Shepton Beauchamp team in Perry Street Division One on Saturday.

From the very first moments of the game, the home side pushed forward quickly and with precision, hitting the side netting within 15 seconds. But the Rovers side, featuring debuts for Jack Handy, 17, and Bruno Marques, 16, soon settled and battled hard.

Keeper Robbie Prior was in unbelievable form, stopping several one-on-ones and close range efforts.

Into the second half and Rovers started to grow into the game, with half chances coming, and midfielders Ryan Fifer and Imran Chowdhury grabbing control.

The game was effectively sealed when the hosts grabbed their second, with Prior this time well beaten. Shepton added their third with 20 minutes to go, as the Seasider back lined tired, and sealed the fourth with a deflected effort with five minutes to play.

Impressive performances came from Ryan Fifer, left back Ali Trueman playing his first 90 of the season, and man-of-the match Robbie Prior.

This defeat sees the Rovers drop two places to from third to fifth in Division One. This coming Saturday (October 24th) they are at home to leaders Perry Street (kick-off 2.30 pm).
