Lyme Rovers 0, South Petherton Res 5

LYME started well and were in the game for 15 minutes but conceded three quick goals from long balls assisted by the wind in the first half.

Jim Larcombe did well in goal earning himself the man-of-the-match accolade with a number of great one-on-one saves throughout the game.

Dan Rendall could have made it 3-1 before the break but was denied by a good save from there keeper.

Trailing 4-0 at half-time, Lyme came out looking stronger in the second half with a slight change of formation and the added energy of Jack Turner, who came off the bench for the injured Harry Andrews.

Zak Harrison had a good effort ruled out for a disputed offside, but the Rovers conceded a fifth goal after Will Bowditch made a clumsy challenge in the area. South Petherton converted the spot-kick even though Jim Larcombe got a hand to it.

Special mention goes to Will Meech and Callum Taylor who despite the result had a great game as the centre-back pairing.

Manager Stef Taylor commented afterwards: "There were lots of positives from the second half and if we can keep believing and fighting, the results will come."

Squad: Jim Larcombe; Ryan Norman, Callum Taylor, Will Meech, Josh Rawlins; Rob Larcombe, Zak Harrison, Jake Bearpark; Danny Rendall, Will Bowditch, Harry Andrews. Subs: Jack Turner, Stef Taylor.
