Tony Pinder, one of Axminster Town's most prolific strikers in recent times, is returning to Tiger Way.
Manager Josh Stunnell has confirmed that Pinder, who in his last season with the Tigers scored 31 goals, had returned to the club and will be in the squad for Axminster's home match against Newton Abbot Spurs tomorrow (Wednesday), a fixture sponsored by Nub News Sport.
Stunnell sees Pinder's return as the boost that his young side needs as they face some challenging games over the next few weeks.
The Axminster boss does not think his squad is a million miles from competing well in the Premier East division but they have not been making the most of their chances in front of goal. The presence of Pinder, who left Axminster to get Western League experience with Bridport and has also played for Cullompton, could be the answer this problem.
Axminster put in a good performance at Torpoint Athletic on Saturday and although they lost 2-1, they were the better side in the last 25 minutes. Luke Finn got the Axminster goal and centre-half Owen Burn was selected as the man-of-the-match.
The Tigers face a tough challenge this coming Saturday when they welcome Ilfracombe Town to Tiger Way. The South Devon side are lying in third place in the South West Peninsular Premier East table, having won all five of their opening games.
