LYME Regis Reserves' new management team got off to a blazing start on Saturday with a 6-2 victory over Devon & Exeter league Division 1 East opponent, Tipton St John.

Former Millwey Rise manager Shane Featherstone, a Lyme player for the past three season, and defender Mark Batey have taken over the running of the Seasiders' second string after Nick Tregale and Darren Stewart stood down due to work commitments.

Lyme had made a shaky start to the season, winning one one game in four, although they ran league leaders Exmouth overs close on two occasions and spirit remained high.

Lyme travelled to third placed Tipton with a new attacking line-up which included Cody Bowditch, back with his home town club after a brief sojourn at Bridport, and first-teamer Brad Rowe who made an bid impact. Bowditch grabbed himself a hat-trick and Rowe scored twice. The scoreline was completed by new signing Tom Boston, a former Millwey player, who impressed on his debut.

Lyme went 1-0 down early in the game after a lapse of defensive concentration which has been something of a trate for the Seasiders this season. But they bounced back, going into half-time with a 3-1 lead, and continued to dominate after the break.

Bret Garner was back in goal for Lyme, his first game of the season, and was in fine form.

Lyme have the chance of moving into mid table if they can get three points from their home game on Saturday against Honiton 2nds who have only won one of their six games this season are are second from bottom in the table (kick-off 2.15 pm).

The Lyme first team's Dorset Senior Trophy second-round tie against Wareham Rangers was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. They resume their Devon & Exeter Premier East programme on Saturday with an away trip to mid-tablers Whipton and Pinhoe.

Lyme Rovers, who did not have a game on Saturday, are on Dorset Junior Cup duty at Sturminster Newton.
