Axminster Reserves returned to action at Tiger Way on Saturday after four weeks in lockdown in fine form, banging in six first-half goals against Devon & Exeter league Division Two East contenders Feniton.

The Tigers lined up with three players missing but any concerns that manager Dan Prettejohn had about his players being a touch rusty after going four weeks without a game was soon put to rest when Charlie Wilson lobbed the Feniton keeper from 25 yards with the game only two minutes old.

Axe continued to dominate through the half and hard work and some neat and tidy football saw them go in at the interval with a 6-0 lead, with a second from Wilson, Sam Winslade (2), Jamie Barefoot and Mark Tucker.

The second half was all one-way traffic with chance after chance going begging with Winslade completing his hat-trick.

Prettejohn was pleased with an all round impressive performance and named Jon Lambert his man-of-the-match.

The victory keeps Axminster Reserves firmly on top of the Division Two East with a three-point lead over nearest rivals Ottery St Mary 2nds.

This coming Saturday (December 12th), the Reserves are away to Cranbrook (kick-off 2 pm).

Axminster Town 1st return to action on Saturday at home to CreditonUnited (kick-off 3 pm) when three points against the mid-tablers will see them ease themselves away from the drop zone, having won just two of their ten South West Peninsular Premier East games this season.

  • A 6-2 win away to Dawlish United saw Beer Albion move into fourth place in the Premier East Division.

In Division 1 East Beer Reserves crew 3-3 with Exmouth Rovers.
