Axminster Under 18s 3, Axminster Under 16s 2
A great evening of football at Tiger Way, with Axminster Town's newly-formed Under 18s and their established Under 16 team playing against each other for the first time.
Both teams battled hard but it was Owen Ford for the 18s who opened the scoring when he reacted quickest to pounce on a shot saved by the impressive 16s' keeper Dylan White.
IKai Martin for the u16s smashed a shot from distance into the back of the net to make it 1-1 at half time.
With a number of subs getting their chance to impress, the game got a bit scrappy in the 2nd half but it was the 16s who took the lead with a top draw free-kick from Owen Dibling.
Towards the end of the game the 18s stepped it up the pressure and brought on Noah Al-sedani up top, a move which soon paid off, with his pace and power he wriggled through to side-foot home the equaliser.
The winner came again from the impressive Owen Ford who superbly curled one in from just inside the box after some quick movements allowed him the space to shoot .
This was a great contest and things look promising for both teams this coming season. Man-of-the-match went to Owen Ford.
The Under 18s next match is against Charmouth men's team on July 30 at Tiger Way (3pm kick-off).
