Lyme Regis Reserves came through a tough test against Devon and Exeter Division One East competitors Lympstone but they came through with flying colours and a 2-0 victory.
Lympstone don't play football like a team sat rock-bottom of the league, and the Lyme players had to work incredibly hard and pull together to resist the pressure the visitors managed to create from the kick-off.
Huge credit needs to go to late call-up to Robbie Prior who started in goal after Rob Harp injured himself in the warm-up, producing a number crucial saves to keep a clean sheet.
A good header from an unlikely source opened the scoring with Rhys Evans towering above the defenders at the back post.
Kieran Daniels, who was a constant thorn in the side of the Lympstone defenders once he moved out to the wing, won a second penalty of the day, which was put away confidently into the top corner by teenager Josh Daines, with his seventh goal in four games.
The earlier penalty was taken by Jonny Day but saved by the Lympstone keeper.
The Lyme second string, under the management duo of Matt Preece and Dec Ellis, have now won seven points from their last three games and have started to move of the Division One East table. Next Saturday (May 1st) they have a stern test against second placed East Budleigh.
