LYME Regis 1st team continued their pre-season friendlies on Friday with a game against a club which plays at a higher standard.

Lyme started very brightly against the Chard Town 1st team playing up the slope in the first half but fell behind against the run of play in the 25th minute when a free kick was headed past Rob Harp from the penalty spot.

It was the same story again ten minutes later as Lyme were unable to defend a corner and again conceded from a strong header.

The Seasiders continued to play their short, quick-passing game and were back in it seconds later as Joe Bond and Dan Rendall combined nicely to set up fred Parsons who cooly slotted home.

Lyme continued to press in the half and got their rewards when Joe Bond fired home after a scramble in the chard box on 60 minutes.

Lyme thought they had won it when a Chard defender conceded a penalty for a deliberate handball on the goal line wigh just ten minutes to go but Fred Parsons smashed the penalty against the bar.

Lyme did enough to win the game but had no answer for a big Chard side at set pieces and will be happy enough with a draw.
