Axminster Young Farmers' Club served 261 breakfasts, raising £1,750 for two charities at the Guildhall in Axminster on Sunday morning.

The proceeds from their annual Big Breakfast will be split between the Flamingo Pool, Axminster, and the Farming Community Network, an organisation that helps members of the farming community manage and thrive through difficult times and periods of change.

The sum raised was boosted by a cake stall and raffle. The young farmers are grateful for the support given by the following organisations and individuals for their support: Manor Farm Caravan Park, Complete Meats, Farleigh Eggs, Heather Pearse, Chard Tesco, Lyme Bay Winery, Luna Nails, Seaton Tesco, Seaton Tramway, Bolts Hairdressers, Acorn, Samantha Underdown, Yarty Party Festival, Sidmouth Rolling Skating, Coombe Garden Centre, Pattemores Transport Ltd, Four Elms, the Lamb Inn, Ducky's, and the Milk Vending Machines.

Despite the difficulties facing farming, Axminster Young Farmers remain one of the most active organisations of its kind in Devon, raising thousands of pounds each year for charitable causes with events such as a 24-hour ploughing marathon.

Last year they raised an incredible £18,000for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) with their 'Axe Sheep Fest' in memory of much-loved past member Frank Pearse.
