Police investigate car fire at local beauty spot

POLICE believe a car fire at Trinity Hill Nature Reserve, near Axminster, last night was started deliberately.

Axminster Fire Brigade were called to the beauty spot at around 11.30pm. The vehicle was well alight when they arrived at the scene.

The blaze was extinguished using one hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus, small tools and a thermal imaging camera.

Fire chiefs have informed the police that they believe the fire was started deliberately.

Police have appealed for information concerning the incident urging any witnesses to call 101 or email [email protected] quoting log 1134.

Police were also called to a garage fire at Poplar Mount in the early hours of May 12.

Firefighters reported that there was 80 per cent fire damage to the contents, 100 per cent smoke damage to the garage and 30 per cent smoke damage to the adjacent garage.

A crew from Charmouth also attended the scene.
