Heritage centre highlights historical buildings of Axminster in virtual blue plaque trail

Axminster Heritage Centre is exploring some of the town's most historic buildings with a virtual version of the Blue Plaque Heritage Trail.
The trail consists of 15 places of historical interest around Axminster - a celebration of the town's heritage, with sites dating back to the 13th century.
Every week, Axminster Heritage Centre is highlighting one of these 15 sites on its Facebook page, sharing information on each building's history.
Having started at the beginning of December, the virtual trail has already covered The Old Courthouse in Church Street, which now houses the Arts Cafe; The Western Academy, now home to Italian restaurant Le Pisani; and the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel - now The Old Chapel Antiques and Craft Centre - on Castle Street.
To follow the virtual trail, visit the Axminster Heritage Centre Facebook page. The trail is also available in leaflet form from the Heritage Centre so residents can tour it themselves in their own time.
