Flu jabs now available in Axminster

Flu clinics at the Axminster Medical Practice will be starting from Saturday (September 26th) but due to constraints brought about by the pandemic, they will be run very differently this year.

Appointments for flu vaccination will be offered by invitation only and patients are asked not to telephone the surgery.

The practice will be writing to all patients eligible for the flu vaccine to offer them a flu jab, with higher risk patients being prioritised.

In the letter patients will be given an allocated day and time for their vaccination. If they are unable to attend the offered appointment, they are advised to contact the surgery as soon as possible on 01297 32126 (Option 1).

They will then be placed on a waiting list and will be informed when another appointment becomes available.

If a patient does not want a flu vaccination, they should return the reply slip on the appointment letter, so the surgery can log their written dissent and they will not be offered further appointments.

When attending for a flu jab appointment patients should follow the instructions below:

  • Turn up at your appointment time, if you are early or late you will not be able to be seen
  • Come alone if possible
  • Wear a face covering if possible
  • Dress for the weather as you may have to queue outside for a short time.
