There's just a week to go until celebrations get underway for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

A full programme of events has been planned in Axminster, with local organisations, pubs and venues hosting celebrations across the extended four-day Bank Holiday weekend.

Events will get started with the official opening of Jubilee Field, ownership of which was recently handed over to the town council, on Thursday, June 2 at 11am.

All are welcome to attend. There will be ice cream for all guests and the council will be unveiling its jubilee plaque in recognition of the Queen's 70 years on the throne and the acquisition of this community space.

Other highlights of the weekend will include the lighting of a brazier on the Minster Green at 8.15pm on Friday, June 3, followed by a toast to Her Majesty at 9pm.

On Saturday, June 4 there will be a teddy bear's picnic for the kids at the Pippins Community Cente, and a full afternoon of song and dance accompanied by a meal from Nourish at Thee Guildhall.

On Sunday, June 5 the Friends of the Minster Church will round off celebrations with a civic service followed by a cream tea at The Guildhall.
