River Cottage will return to our television screens for the first time in nearly a decade.

A new River Cottage series, featuring celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, will soon be screened on More4.

River Cottage has given millions of viewers a taste for great cooking since 1999, when Hugh first brought his famous food ethos to Channel 4.

Its hard-hitting campaigns have changed the eating habits of a nation and improved the welfare and sustainability of animals and fish.

First founded at his gamekeeper's cottage near Netherbury, in Dorset, Hugh later moved River Cottage to its current headquarters at Park Farm, on Trinity Hill, just outside Axminster.

It is now the base of a cookery school, unique dining experiences, bed and breakfast and a new kitchen and store recently opened at the site.

A video posted on Instagram, previewing the new four-part 'River Cottage Reunited' series, shows Hugh looking around the original River Cottage near Netherbury.

A spokesperson for River Cottage said: "Many of you have been asking about whether this might happen for some time now, and we can finally say, yes!

"'River Cottage Reunited' is a brand new series, the first new River Cottage shows we've made for almost a decade! And it's coming to your screens on More4 very soon.

"It is brilliant to share with you what we love the most: gathering the very best ingredients from land and sea, meeting inspiring growers and producers, and making delicious food to share with friends and neighbours.

"It's a life many of us have been missing and it's time to recognise and celebrate just how much it can do for us to live and cook a little closer to nature."
