Plastic Free Axminster to launch Boomerang Bags scheme

Boomerang Bags was initially set up in Australia, to help cut down on the number of plastic bags being used.
It is now worldwide with bags borrowed by shoppers and returned to one of the participating outlets in the town.
Each bag in its lifetime can save up to 700 single-use plastic bags and save on pollution. The bags are made of donated fabric – so that's another saving to the environment.
Plastic Free Axminster is planning to introduce this scheme to the town and will be holding an initial meeting with all those who are interested in helping to make the bags on Saturday, October 1 at 10am in Axminster Guildhall, within the Repair Cafe session that day.
If you can't make the meeting but are interested and would like to have a copy of the pattern, email [email protected].
