Axminster Medical Practice has clarified its position on the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out, saying it plans to have all registered patients aged over 80 vaccinated by this weekend.
In a statement issued via Axminster Community Emergency Response (ACER), the practice said it wanted to clear up any confusion or speculation regarding the vaccin roll-out.
The statement read: "For your peace-of-mind, Axminster Medical Services are working seven days a week to provide both GP services, as well as the vaccination programme.
"So far, the practice has vaccinated a significant percentage of at-risk patients using both Pfizer and Oxford/AZ vaccines, which is excellent news!
"Let us reassure you that a programme is in place to immunise all over 80s registered with the medical practice by January 23.
"For everyone else, the government has communicated its vaccination roll-out priorities with medical practices nationwide, and AMP will continue to work to these over the coming weeks."
With the roll-out of this winters flu vaccine, which was successful and efficient, the Medical Practice now has a tried and tested method of communicating and delivering the COVID -19 vaccine.
Patients will be contacted and given a date for their vaccination when it is their turn, in line with the government's priorities (listed below) and when vaccine availability allows.
The speed of the roll-out depends on the availability of the vaccine. This is not within the control of Axminster Medical practice.
Patients should also be aware that the vaccine may not be suitable for people with certain medical conditions.
The Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advises the order of priority for the coronavirus vaccination is as follows:
ðŸ. Residents in a care home for older adults and their carers
ðŸ®. All those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workersðŸ¯. All those 75 years of age and over
