Axminster is looking forward to the reopening of the popular Community Waffle House on Wednesday, July 15th.

Opened last April as a non-profit making community interest company, the Waffle House has been a huge success with every penny made going to help the needy of Axminster, especially the isolated and lonely.

But like every other shop and cafe in Axminster, the Waffle House had to closed down due to coronavirus.

The directors announced last week that they would be reopening on July 15th for takeaways only and had been given permission for their customers to sit at picnic tables on The Minster Green, which is opposite their West Street premises.

They put out an appeal on social media for help to get benches and Axminster Property has come to the rescue.

Axminster Property, which is developing the former department store Trinity House in the town centre, were asked to help and managing director Ian Styles immediately said "yes".

With the help of his estate manager, Kelly Apps, he set about making seven bench seats which have now been handed over the to the Waffle House ready for their reopening.
