Axminster's much-admired Job Club, which has helped thousands of local residents find work, is reopening again after having to close down due to the coronavirus crisis.

The club, which meets at 9am every Thursday at the Pippins community centre, will open its doors again on July 2nd.

A statement from the club said: "We will be offering the same service for help with CVs, job hunting and universal credit as before but we will look slightly different in how we operate.

"We have made all the necessary changes within government guidelines to ensure that we can help you whilst being confident that you will be well protected when you come to see us.

"It is our absolute priority that everyone who visits us is kept safe, along with our volunteers."

Visitors to the Job Club will be asked to follow a one-way system and enter via the side door. The number of visitors in the room at any one time will be kept to a strict maximum to allow for safe working.

Job hunters will also be asked to wear a mask which the volunteers can provide can provide if you don't have your own, along with gloves, especially if using a laptop.

Tea and coffee will be provided in disposable cups.

The statement concluded: "We are really looking forward to welcoming you back if you want or need our help. It has been a challenging and strange time for us all but we will be here for you from July 2nd to help you with whatever your needs."

Operating with the Job Club is a representative from the Careers Service and in a separate area there is the Citizens Advice Bureau.

East Devon District Council run a housing benefit surgery from 9-11am upstairs at Pippins on a Thursday morning.
