Axminster Wellbeing Centre is a not-for-profit community-based charity promoting health and wellbeing services for all.

The centre was originally set up in the 1970s as a centre for spirituality and spiritual studies, and back then was called The Axminster Awareness Centre, with many people still referring to it as the Awareness Centre even today.

The grade II listed building was bequeathed to the centre by benefactor John Tweed and the large ground floor workshop and class space is named The John Tweed room in his honour.

The centre later became a registered charity in 1997 with its focus shifting to complementary healthcare and treatments.

With five fully-furnished, multi-discipline treatment rooms available, the centre are home to a wide range of qualified and professional health and wellness practitioners.

It offers affordable treatments to everyone in the local community, including counselling, acupuncture, myofascial release, cranio-sacral, reflexology, reiki, Bowen therapy, health coaching, hypnotherapy, nutrition coaching, naturopathy, therapeutic massage and much more.

The centre works to support people's physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual needs. Its vision is to help and support clients in the local community with affordable sessions in complementary therapies, workshops, and classes.

Volunteers are important to the successful running of the centre – whether it's on reception, gardening or supporting the local foodbank.

If you are a new therapist looking for affordable room hire, or an established therapist looking to extend your practice to our locality, you can get in touch with the centre. Its treatment rooms are available to hire with a range of various pricing plans and the team is always keen to discuss options and on the lookout for additional therapists.

The centre also offers a varied timetable of holistic movement classes and events, such as yoga, pilates, qigong and tai chi, mindfulness, and meditation classes, plus group sessions.

Not only does the centre provide physical and mental health services, but it is also an important support network for those who are in need. As well as treatments and classes, it is also home to the Axminster Foodbank and Read Easy (adult reading lessons) charities.

Aided by an army of volunteers, the centre supports almost 100 local families a week via the foodbank and hardship fund.

The team have welcomed thousands of Axminster residents to the centre over the years, and it has been a great resource for members of our community to turn to when they need help.

With access to trained professionals, at affordable rates, and resources that can be used to benefit overall wellness, individuals are able to take charge of their own health and wellbeing, whatever their current situation.
