The weekly Axminster Country Market will return next month after closing down during the coronavirus lockdown.

The market will reopen at the Masonic Hall in South Street on Thursday, September 3 at 9am offering delicious local produce, homemade cakes, plants and crafts.

Before lockdown, the market had been running with less stalls than usual following a few retirements, but its numbers have now been bolstered by four or five new producers keen to take

Organisers have said the "future looks exciting" for the weekly event, adding: "Come and see what it's all about, get some home-cooked food, some nice flowers and some amazing veg, and support your local producer's co-op!

"We will have all the COVID safety measures in place, but please wear a mask. We will be learning as we go, so please be patient with us!

Axminster Country Market is part of the national Country Markets social enterprise. For more information, visit the website www.country-markets.co.uk
