The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms continues today from 4am until 12noon, with the possibility of rain and gusty winds causing some disruption. However, the weather is expected to brighten up throughout the morning into mid afternoon, with more rain and thunder forecast from 6pm onwards.Transport & Traffic
There are no major roadworks or disruptions reported on the roads around Axminster today. Some South Western Railway services were disrupted by poor weather last night and early this morning, with replacement buses from Exeter St David's. A tunnel has been closed due to safety reasons, as a result, trains between Axminster and Yeovil Junction may be cancelled, delayed or revised. This is expected until 4pm. Axminster was recorded in the late 9th century as Ascanmynster and in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Aixeministra. The name means "monastery or large church by the River Axe".
