With COVID restrictions making traditional methods of fundraising impossible, Axminster charity arc planned a zoom quiz to provide an evening of entertainment and to raise some much-needed funding.
Sixteen households took part - some with teams and others individuals - and
quiz master, former mayor Andrew Moulding, kept everybody on their toes with a variety of questions from Italian cuisine to biology. The event has so far made £300 from the generosity of participants - with a few more donations still to come in. The results were close but the overall winners were Bee and Chris Painton, who won a family photo shoot from local wedding and portrait photographer Suzanne Mcfadzean. Arc provides high quality, free, specialist counselling for adult patients registered at Axminster Medical Practice who are seeking help through times of profound change, trauma and loss. COVID has had a detrimental impact on people's mental health and Arc has seen an exponential increase in the need for psychological support within the local community, especially for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety. The arc clinicians have been working remotely with clients since March 2020, delivering 80-plus hours of remote counselling. Arc prides itself on its ability to offer support within one week of referral, and despite the huge increase in demand, still has no waiting list. Arc Axminster is a unique mental health charity and is dependent for its survival on the generosity of supporters. Donations and legacies are the lifeblood for arc and donations are welcomed via https://www.justgiving.com/arc-axminster
