"Georgian Axminster - How the Georgians shaped our town, 1714 to 1830"
Have you ever wondered what Axminster was like during the Georgian era? Come along and listen to local historian David Knapman tell us about ow Georgian England developed and what the wider Georgian world was like. He will then focus on prominent people with strong links to Axminster across the Georgian era, the built heritage which they have left us, the (scant) evidence for coffee and tea culture here, and the (more substantial) evidence for 'public entertainments' and finally how all four Georges 'shook hands' with Axminster, either directly or at one remove.
Tickets can be purchased for £3.50 from Saturday 10th September at Axminster Heritage Centre. Spaces will be limited to 50
We will be offering free entry for anyone who turns up for the talk in the Georgian costume that they were wearing earlier in the day (but please tell us in advance so we can reserve seats).
