Sports in Axminster

Axminster Town Football Club has demonstrated its commitment to provide sport for all by the introduction of a Wildcats initiative, a national network sponsored by Weetabix.

Wildcats is non-competitive football for girls between the ages of four and 11 who want to try the sport for the first times and who want to play with girls of their own age.

The Covid Cup competition at Axe Cliff Golf Club was the brainchild of last year's Lady Captain, Barbara Cummings. She found an old silver trophy and decided it should be played for in a mixed pairs competition to commemorate the dreadful virus which has affected us all in so many ways.

Whistlestop tennis at Seaton

Seaton Tennis Club held a mixed doubles Whistlestop Tournament as a friendly warm up for impending league matches.

Winners played with losers and losers played with winners - timed ten minute tie breaks starting and finishing with a blast of the whistle, with a different partner every time.

LYME Regis 1sts started well at Dawlish United yesterday, carving out numerous chances with Joe Bond, Ben Vine and Brad Rowe all missing guilt- edged chances and a seemingly blatant foul on Fred Parsons in the area ignored by the referee.

It wasn't until the 30th minute that Brad Rowe side-footed home from 10 yards to break the deadlock.
