Lady Captain's day at Axe Cliff

Axe Valley Golf Club Ladies, it would seem, really like the sun and some warmth whilst playing but last week was a little too much for most. Last Wednesday was Anne Jarvis's Lady Captain's day and she did the girls proud. They were presented with a goodie bag at the first tee and learnt that they would be

with cold drinks, bags of melon and sweeter treats as well. Anne very kindly made it a 15- hole competition given the heat.

Steve Mudford is Lyme club champion

THE second round of the Lyme Regis Golf Club championship was won by Steve Mudford, seen here receiving the trophy from captain Arthur Danies .

Steve won the gross competition with a score of 148, with Jason Lindley coming second on 152 and  Ian Mudford  (Steve's brother) taking third place with 153.

First round of the Axe Cliff Cup

Axe Cliff Ladies drew the short straw with the weather last Wednesday having to play in the rain.

It was their first round of the Axe Cliff Cup which is a tough series of five medal rounds and the cup goes to the lady with the best aggregate of three cards.

Axe Cliff ladies qualify for Echo Cup

Last week both the Ladies and the Seniors at Axe Cliff Golf Club had reasonable weather or, at least, they did not get wet.

The Ladies held their qualifying round to see which two pairs will represent the club at the County Express & Echo Shield to be held later in September at Exeter Golf & Country Club. They all fought well with the winners being the strong pairing of Caroline Bond and Jill Wellington with 32 points .
