As can be seen, there was an unusual visitor to Axe Cliff Golf Club last week - last week, to the rough ground behind our eighth fairway, usually used to put any rubbish we want to get rid off on. Unfortunately, it didn't take any so we can only assume it was a satnav problem as it did not book a round on our BRS system !
Young Amy Rodriquez has only just taken up the game but if the latest round of our Ladies Count Prize Competition is anything to go by she will be one to look out for. She left the field well behind her winning with an amazing 39 points. The nearest to her were Margaret Kenchington and Pauline Willis coming 2nd and 3rd with 32 and 28 points respectively.
With only one more reound to play in our Seniors Winter League trophy on March 24. Mike Wickins must be biting his finger nails on his slender lead. His total is 178 with Bill Dearling, on his shirt tails, with 177, and don't forget Terry Atkins on 175. Hopefully these three will be playing together on the 24th and spectators can buy their tickets now from captain Steve Thompson. The weather was good for Mashers Roll Up last Wednesday and certainly enjoyed mostly by Graham Smith winning with an unbelievable 46 pts from Mike Chadwick on 39 and Terry Atkins again on 38 - I said we cant forget him.
The popular team game of Florida Scramble was again a lot of fun and this time was won by Simon Wellington, Andy Hopgood and Ian Carvell with a fine net 64, six below par. They were pushed all the way by Chris Jowett, Andrew Thompson and Richard Chambers who came second on 66, which also matched by the strong team of Tony Strong, John Purdy and Bunny Hanson who had to be happy with third on countback."
