Axe Cliff Golf Club Ladies held a successful and enjoyable Invitation Day where each member invites two guests from other clubs to make a team of three. Everyone was very appreciative of weather, course and perfect food after the game. The winning team was Karin Cox with her two guests.
There were many prizes including the Captain's Six hidden holes which was won by Margaret Kenchington and her two guests. It was played as a Reverse Waltz aptly named as firstly three scores count, then two and then one and continue as such over the 18 holes.
The Seniors continue their home success with a fine 4-2 win win over Exminster and welcomed back Geoff Hughes after a long absence. He played with Dave Bruce and won his match 5-3, playing his socks off like he'd never been away.
Dave Morgan has to be player of the moment following his Lavarack Sticknwin for the over 70s and coming first in the thirds round of our Masters competition with a nett 68 from Nigel Pritchard, also on 68, leaving Geoff Greenslade third on the podium with a 69. With one round to go, Nigel Pritchard has a small lead with 211 from Captain Steve Thompson on 215 and Paul Curtin 216. It's going to make a nervous last round for these three- hopefully they will be able to play together.. The putting competition played at the same time went to Gerry Binmore with an amazing 26 putts over 18 holes.
Mashers Roll Up was another close battle with Ian Carvell taking top spot from Paul Clode on countback, both with 36 points. Good to see Kyle Philpotts taking thirds place with 35 points.
