Rikki Sargent who scored Lyme's first goal in their Dorset County Trophy in a 3-2 defeat after extra time against Poole Borough

LYME Regis 1st started positively on a very open and uneven pitch and dominated the opening half an hour of the Dorset Senior Trophy against Poole Borough, creating three or four clear openings.

Against the run of play Poole took the lead after a quick counter attack when their best player on the day broke through from centre mid and lobbed keeper Brett Garner from 25 yards.

Lyme Regis Reserves and Clyst Valley observe a two minutes silence in memory of the Duke of Edinburgh

Lyme Regis Reserves were well on their way to another three points at home to Clyst Valley 2nds – and then gave away two late goals to leave managers Matt Preece and Dec Ellis frustrated, especially after last week's 8-0 victory.

Before kick-off the two teams stood in silent tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh.

LYME Regis Reserves brushed away the cobwebs after Saturday's 5-2 defeat at Teigmouth to run riot on Easter Monday with a 8-0 victory over Devon and Exeter League Division One East opponents Otterton.

Prior to this afternoon's game, the Seasiders' second string were placed at the foot of the COVID-reset table and Otterton were in fourth position.
