DEVON and Exeter Division Six leaders Okehampton came to Venlake on Saturday looking to hold onto their sizeable advantage at the top.  However, the Uplyme team were set on proving last week's disappointing defeat to Exeter Uni was a blip.

Without influential player Cody Bowditch and skipper Wes Holmes, it seemed a tough task, but the team set about their usual brand of quick football with gusto.

Uplyme dominated the game with their shape and organisation, with Daley Holmes at centre midfield providing a brilliant platform from which to spring attacks.

Goals in the first half from Oli Alner and captain Fin Mclean took Uplyme into the break in a great position.

The second half was more of the same although Okehampton showed glimpses of their quality and experience.

Oli Alner fired in a third goal from Uplyme and it was over as a contest.

Managers Steve Gillan and Pete Blandamer were impressed with the whole team. "We had a bit to prove today, due to our poor second half last week, and that's exactly what we did.

"We went into the game missing key players like Wes, Cody Bowditch , Ben Prosser and Harry Robson. However, when you have a squad playing for each other as we are, then we know we'll get a response.

"Conor and Josh at the back did a fantastic job and Alex Jones and Jonnie Harris proving real threats out wide. Daley Holmes gets our man-of-the match for his consistent quality on the ball and distribution all game. He's had good games this season, but really stood out today."

This victory sees Uplyme move into fourth place in Division Six. This coming Saturday they travel mid-tablers to Falcons FC

Uplyme Reseres were been 7-0 away to Perry Street Reserves.
