Bampton 1sts 0, Millwey Rise 1sts 0

Once more on the road with a bare 11 players as four senior players were unavailable, the outcome of the game already looked compromised. In reality the players who took the pitch gave their all and the result was a reflection of their outstanding endeavours.

Millwey rode their luck at times, especially in the first half, but aided by some superlative saves from keeper Nathan Hoole they went into the break on level terms.

In the second period Rise got a better grip on the game and created chances of their own with both Sam Turner and Luke Thurlow going close. Possibly their best chance of winning would have come from a dead cert penalty when Owen Enticott was upended in the box but for some perverse reason the referee thought otherwise.

The score remained at 0-0 as the final whistle blew on what proved to be a great performance from the whole Millwey team.

Bailey Hall who stepped up to fill the centre back role was impressive as were the efforts of Zak Meaker and Sam Turner in midfield but the MOM honour had to go to keeper Nathan Hoole who was a giant between the posts. Manager Mark Turner said "The boys were absolutely fantastic I couldn't have been more proud of them".

Next week Witheridge 1st X1 come to Claoakham and Millwey will be looking to overturn the narrow defeat away to their visitors last month.
