Positive vibes about Axminster Town's new Under 18s side.

Axminster Town withdrew their Reserve side from the Devon and Exeter League last season to concentrate on building their youth structure with the formation of an Under 18s side, to be managed by Tigers legend Sam Dibling.

Axminster Under 18s will play in the Western Counties Floodlit League and their first home game is against Wells City on September 22nd (kick-off 730 pm).

In the match programme against Sidmouth Town, Dibling revealed that the Under 18s has started "positively" with 22 players turning up at the first open trials.

Dibling wrote: "We felt it was important to get the Under 18s up and running. With such a great youth set-up at Axminster Town AFC, this was the next step to realise a pathway into men's football - a reserve team is planned for next season -and potentially some of youth players are more than capable of playing first team football in the future further up the football ladder. These are the future players for Axminster town football."

The Under 18s new kit has been sponsored by Just Mortgages and Caroline Ellis of Amberline Cleaning Services is sponsoring the match balls.

Tonight (Tuesday) Axminster Town are at home to Crediton United who are fifth in the South West Peninsular Premier East Division (kick-off 7.30 pm). The Tigers are in second place, two points behind leaders Ivybridge Town after six games.
