Axminster Town knocked league leaders Okehampton off the top of the South West Peninsular Premier East table in a creditable 1-1 draw that cements the Tigers' sixth place.

Conceding points to the Tigers saw Okehampton slip into second place behind new leaders Crediton United, who now have a single- point lead over Argyle but have played one more game.

Craig Veal got the all important goal for Axminster and man-of-the-match went to the ever reliable defender Ben Palmer.

Axminster will be back in action tonight when they travel to neighbours Honiton Town for a 7.30pm kick-off. The Hippos, who will be turning g on their floodlights for the first time, have shown indifferent form this season, having won just five of their 24 games compared to Axminster's 11 victories.

On Saturday Axminster are at home to Holsworthy who sit in second from bottom place in the table (kick-off 3pm).
