However after much perseverance Lara Spiers managed to pull back two goals. But Exeter had more goals in them, resulting in the game ending at 9-2, a disappointing scoreline for Seaton. SEATON TAKE ON AXMINSTER LADIESIN MIDWEEK DERBY UNDER LIGHTS
Leaving the weekend game behind them, Seaton Town had a lot to prove against local rivals Axminster Town.
Knowing the game was going to be well-matched, Seaton started strong and well organised playing some good link-up up football. Despite dominating the first section of play Axminster managed to capitalise on sloppy play from Seaton to open up a 1-0 lead.
Determined to level the playing field, Seaton hit back when centre-forward Lara Spiers equalised but after some end-to-end football Axminster managed to nick the ball from Seaton's defence to make it 2-1 just before half time.
After the break Seaton worked hard to get back in the game and it was winger Meg Griffiths who put the ball in the back of the net to level the scores at 2-2.
But Axminster had no intention of lying down and regained the lead again. Seaton won a corner on the right with Meg Griffiths heading it home to bring the score to 3-3.
Both teams dug deep, playing box-to-box, but neither were able to grab the winner, the score finishing on 3-3.
