LYME Regis Football Club have unveiled their new manager. He is 43-year-old sports teacher Mickey Hunt, who lives in Exeter.

Mickey, who teaches at St James School in Exeter, grew-up in Plymouth. A central mid-field player, he spent his playing days primarily with Dawlish, Liskeard and Torrington and has managed Bovey Tracey in the South West Peninsular League, two levels above the Devon and Exeter Premier League in which Lyme compete.

He replaces player/manager Robbie Fellingham, who took over near the end of last season when the club parted company with Julien Simier.

Mickey impressed Lyme with his attention to detail in laying out his vision for five years at the Davey Fort and a player pathway from First team down to mini-Seasiders. He is keen to work with the Seasiders' youth section and has already met chairman Martyn Wright.

Mickey said he was very impressed with the professionalism of the Lyme club, particularly behind the scenes, and that he was looking forward to meeting the players at their first training session on Tuesday, July 4.

Pre-season friendlies have been organised with Swanage Town, Bridport, Sherborne Town Reserves, Dorchester Sports, Wellington Reserves and East Budleigh.

Welcoming Mickey to the club, chairman Gerard Hitchcock said: "We were really impressed with Mickey's vision for our club. He has a good track record and we look forward to a long and successful association with him."

Mickey demonstrated his keenness by spending five hours at the club on Saturday morning cleaning and reorganising the home dressing room.

Pre-season training starts at the Davey Fort on Tuesday, July 4 when current and past players will be welcomed.

Lyme are advertising for a linesman, physio and goalkeeping coach and anyone interested should contact him on 07961 876174.
