Millwey Rise 1sts 0, Cullompton Rangers 2nds 6

With no 1st X1 game Cullompton brought a strong side to Cloakham. This, together with the strong wind blowing across the pitch, proved too much for a depleted Rise side who, although striving to contain the visitors, found any cohesion between forwards and defence difficult to establish.

The defence was under constant pressure and the forwards ran into a solid wall chasing difficult long balls carried on the wind. Cullompton went ahead after 30 minutes and added a further three goals before the break.

Jason Hoole in the Millwey goal brought off several timely interceptions to prevent the score being even higher.

The second period saw Rise come more into the game and should have had a penalty when Nathan Womersley was deliberately pulled back in the area. To be fair to the ref, the sun was in his eyes! The visitor's final two goals were courtesy of a deflection off a defender and a clever lob.

For Millwey Zak Meaker was a dynamo covering all areas of the pitch in his endeavours and certainly deserved his man-of-the-match recognition. Nathan Womersley ploughed a lone furrow in his attempts to pierce the visitors defence and Sam Burke as usual ran his socks off.

There is no game for either side next Saturday.
