FOOTBALL retuned to Barrs Lane as the rejuvenated Charmouth ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against Chard United.

The Robins started strongly and dominated from the off. Early pressure created, six corners and multiple scoring chances in the first 30 minutes. A goal had to come and a great assist from Sam Dibling saw David Bridges get his first goal for the club and to give Charmouth a 1-0 lead.

Unfortunately, in the 30th minute debutant keeper Kieran Downton had to be subbed due to injury with Ali Harvey donning the gloves. Shortly after Dibling was brought down in the box. Ty Allen stepped up to take the penalty but his spot-kick was stopped by a great save from the Chard United keeper with the follow-up going past the post.

John Vaughan made way for Haydn Lewis to make his debut. Charmouth continued to pressure until half-time with the Chard keeper pulling off a number of saves saves and Adzy Whitehouse rattling the cross bar from a free-kick.

The second half carried on much the same as with the visitors exercising more pressure. Charmouth continued to create chances and Whitehouse put Charmouth 2-0 up, scoring direct from a corner on 53 minutes.

Bogdan Tudor made way for Matt Dare to settle into the back-line. Charmouth created more chances and Chard had a couple of corners in quick succession but the home defence stood firm.

Chard started to create a few more chance but some great saves from Ali Harvey kept them out.

Charmouth continued to dominate with two more corners, then a brilliant passing movement saw Steve Wolloff set up Brin Seward to make it 3-0. On 70 minutes Dave Bridges made way for Chris Hayward. Charmouth continued to press with Whitehouse and Seward firing wide.

This was a great team performance against a Chard United and Charmouth's superior possession game them their first clean sheet of the season. Man of the match to Ali Harvey, but whole team deserves recognition.
