Farway United 1, Millwey Rise 2nd X1 6

Millwey Rise 2nd X1 travelled to Farway United in the search of an eighth straight league win but it was the villagers who were on the front foot in the first 20 minutes and came close to opening the scoring on a couple occasions.

Millwey gradually grew into the game then, maybe against the run of play, went one up when Cameron Board burst through the home sides defence to open his account. Soon after, captain for the day, and Rise top scorer Jack Bennett scored a delightful header to double the lead. Millwey built on this and for the remaining 25 minutes of the half pushed for more goals but to no avail.

After the break Rise started strongly and soon found themselves three up when Board doubled his tally. Two more goals came in quick succession as Dave Bridges, with two sublime finishes, bagged himself a brace.

Farway pulled a goal back to make it 1-5 but soon after, Bailey Hall, who came on to replace his brother, flicked the ball into the net to make it 1-6 to Rise. The game then became a bit scrappy without any further goals scored by either team and Millwey adding increasing their winning run to eight games.

Manager Terry Male gave man-of-the-match to Theo Souttar-Stone who had a solid game once he moved from central defender to right back. Male said his team were sloppy at times in their play though thoroughly deserved their win and look forward to finish the season with another victory next week away to Bampton.
